John Paul (JP) is a multi-award winning Producer, Songwriter, Arranger, Audio Engineer, Mixer, Musician, and is co-owner at Private Ear Recording.

In 2020 he received WCMA awards for both Producer of the Year and Engineer of the Year. His client list would be aptly described as diverse. He has produced, engineered, and mixed projects in a wide variety of genres over the past 20 years. JP is a multi-instrumentalist skilled at violin, guitar, bass, keys, percussion, to name a few. He has numerous instrumental, vocal, and writing credits on albums and singles he has produced. He played in several bands before moving into full-time production. The Undecided and Officer Down were signed to Tooth and Nail Records (Seattle) and Goodfellow Records (Hamilton). Additionally, he has been an instructor of audio production at Providence College and Canadian Mennonite University in addition to providing consulting services to a variety of clients. JP has recently begun working in film and television doing sound editing, dialogue editing, foley and mixing for surround sound.

His love of music and people, along with dedication to detail and genuine effort to achieve his client’s goals, has given him much success both in the Canadian music industry and beyond.
